From spring 2025, applicants for NZÚ subsidies for family houses will face several changes.
The aim is to support comprehensive renovations that significantly contribute to energy savings and help meet the EU’s building energy efficiency targets. The new conditions do not apply to apartment buildings.
What’s changing?
- Applicants will receive the subsidy as an advance payment.
- The subsidies apply only to natural persons who own or co-own a family house that is not co-owned by a company and not managed within a trust or investment fund.
- Members of the applicant’s household must not collectively own more than two residential properties. This requirement is part of the so-called property test.
- Another condition is permanent residence in the property for at least 5 years after the renovation is completed. The property may be occupied either by the applicant or their direct relative.
- No more than 20% of the total area of the property may be used for business or rental purposes.
- The subsidy must not overlap with previous programs by the Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Industry and Trade, or the Ministry for Regional Development after January 1, 2009, and it cannot be used for expanding existing power plants or battery storage systems.
- Applicants have 24 months from grant approval to complete the implementation and submit the required documentation.
- From June 30, 2025, it will no longer be possible to submit expenses older than 1 year as part of the application. A transitional period applies until June 30, 2025, during which expenses dated after January 1, 2021 may still be submitted.
- The program will allow photovoltaics subsidies even for households that are not low-income.
- Subsidies up to CZK 140,000 for photovoltaics combined with smart energy management and community energy sharing.
- Subsidies up to CZK 100,000 if you do not use smart energy management or energy sharing.
- Photovoltaics combined with additional measures such as insulation or heat pump installation may qualify for a bonus up to CZK 60,000.
- The subsidy cannot be claimed for new buildings or properties approved after January 1, 2021.
- The photovoltaic system must be equipped with battery storage with at least a 1:1 ratio to the power of the PV plant.
- The photovoltaic subsidy cannot be combined with older support programs.
- Minimum system output: 2 kWp.
- The photovoltaic subsidy cannot be combined with solar or photovoltaic water-heating systems with a minimum output of 1.8 kW.
- Only one subsidy may be claimed per property, regardless of the number of installed PV systems.
